Answer
Dear AH,
Firstly my apologies for not responding sooner, I just returned today from holidays, and secondly I am sorry to hear about your pain on your back bone.

Your x-ray findings of a straightening spine is as your results report consistent with paravetebral muscle spasms, which means the muscles are in a state of spasm on both sides of the spine.  Spina bifida, as indicated on your findings is a non union of the back wall of a vertebrae, which takes place in the womb.

This is information is important but alone it is not enough to have certainty about the cause of your back pain.

I would strongly urge you to contact a back expert like a chiropractor and have them complete a thorough health history and exam, including range of motion tests, palpation, muscle, nerve and orthopedic tests etc.

If necessary, your doctor may recommend that you have an MRI and maybe a nerve conduction test to seek even more information that an x-ray cannot reveal. Your doctor will know what appropriate tests to perform and order after a thorough visit, and then with the results there is great hope to know the source of your pain. Only then will it possible to recommend what the most appropriate kind of care for your situation.

Would you mind rating my answer after you have finished reading this answer and consider nominating me expert of the month.

I wish you blessings of success in your journey to seek answers and most importantly to resolving your problem which is causing you pain. Please keep in touch so I may know how things are doing AH.

Sincerely,

Dr. Ron Nusbaum
