Question
I have noted that there is no contraindications for spinal decompression and aneursym but have erred on the side of caution to not perform this treatment with a patient due to this reason.  Should I be concerned or not?  If the aneursym is abdomianl aorta should I not perform the treatment?  What if the aneursym is in the common iliac artery?  By the way the patient's disc bulges are lumbar.

Answer
HI Nicole,
Thanks for your question. Are you a doctor? I hear and appreciate your concern about spinal decompression and aneurysm.  There are some who believe that aortic aneurysms are a contra indication. Having said that if you have any concern I would suggest that you speak with the patient's medical doctor or internist and explain to them the procedure and ask their opinion.  It's not possible for me to give you a clear and straight answer because I lack clinical information about the patients aneurysm. It would be necessary to examine the patient, know precisely where the disc bulge is located and view their abdominal films, understand precisely which technology you are using etc. When in doubt leave it out and err on the side of caution.
