Hand Pain

Question
Hi, I've been having pain off and on in my hands/wrists.  I can't put any real weight on them without a jolt of pain.  As of right now my left hand is in alot of pain, the pain is in my wrist and metacarpal bones.  It hurts to flex my hand and sometimes to touch.  I've played the piano for almost ten years but only in the past year have my wrists/hands started to hurt.

Answer
You may want to have them evaluated by a chiropractor.  The positioning for piano playing is quite similar to typing; this position and repetitive movement is a leading cause of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome.  You may not be that far along, and only have a respective stress disorder of the wrists, and this can be easily fixed.
