Question
Dr.,

I'm copying part of a question that another user asked because it sums up my issue perfectly,

this user wrote...

"A little over a month ago, I began feeling a sort of numbness in my left thigh.  I have feeling in my leg, but it is as if it has "fallen asleep".  I have sensation there, but it is almost like the skin is numb to the touch."

my issue is similar, except that it started about 5 days ago and the numbness is in both  legs and feet. The sensation that this user explains is identical to mine.

I did just move last weekend, but I don't feel like I've pulled a muscle or anything. Also, at work I am exposed to traces of nitric acid and muriatic acid (we test items for gold content, and I recently got a few drops on my hands and underneath the fingernail) I don't think its a strong concentration, but just thought I抎 mention it.

I have no other health issues (at least that I抦 aware of), but am starting to get concerned because this sensation hasn抰 gone away yet!

Thank you.

Jason

Answer
Hi Jason,

Whenever the nerves malfunction, it is a concern.  Especially when it is out of the blue like this.

On balance, most of the time these things are transient problems that fade from memory soon.

It could be musculoskeletal pressure, a vitamin deficiency, something toxic (as you suggested), neurological disease, and so on.

My best advice is to get an exam.  A chiropractic doctor should be able to tell you if there is any mechanical interference with the nerves or can refer you to the appropriate type of doctor for further exam.  The chiropractor is a conservative way to begin and may well be all that you need.

Hope this helps.
