Is my chiropractor right?

Question
I have had numbness in my butt cheeks, legs, arms, hands for a little while. Recently I picked up the front of a lawn mower due to being stuck and had no one to help when I did immediatly I had a pain shoot from three directions in my lower back just above my butt cheek on the right side. I could barely stand up and when I did I couldn't bend over. It hurts to sit, stand, bend over but I can kinda lay back at an angle and it relieves some pain. Been like this for two wks.  Been to two adjustments seems to make it worse I still so stiff and can't hardly move it feels like my back is sitting on a pivot point and I have to keep it in the middle so it doesn't hurt as bad. He took an xray apprx 1 yr ago but not this time he says that with the way my back looked then theres no way anythings broke he mentioned something about s1 I think. When he adjusted me the first time he said he felt something swollen and just said "ah ha". I always feel like it just something to keep me comming back as if to milk more money out of me. Like its a ongoing situation. I get adjusted the do 15 mins of heat and electro static afterwards. Does any of this make sense to you or is he doing the right thing? Please help!!! It seems like I'm more stiff and in pain then before. I tried muscle relaxers doesn't help and I've been taking doans for back pain. It just doesn't seem like this is working. Thanks, Leisha

Answer
Have an MRI performed of the lumbar spine. If you have a disc injury, it may take 2 to 3 months for maximum improvement even with treatment. I think you should use ice( due to the inflammation) on the low back at this time, no heat. Also, if you repeatedly feel worse after treatment, you may need a different technique. Try a second opinion and find a spinal decompression/Cox decompression chiropractor. First step is to get an MRI!
