Question
Hi I'm a athlete that trains for a college level sport I been having back pain for a year never traumatic I had an mri I have a disc herniation and just found out I have sacralization of my l5. What I want to know if heavy squats with this caused the herniation, cause I don't know how it happened my coaches never say my squat format is bad or in proper.

Answer
Najeeb,

You can have Sacralization without a disc herniation. They don't have to go hand in hand. A disc herniation usually happens either from a one time trauma (which all athletes endure at one time or another) or from repetitive trauma. If you have had any kind of misalignments or discomfort in your lower back, heavy squats CAN be the cause of a herniation.

I hope this answers your questions.
