Question
Firt surgery: right shoulder.s
second surgery: neck

I had to do overtime work and it require me to key the number key and to turn my neck left and right. I did this for two weeks. Once the overtime was finished I started having muscle pain in my mid back. First on the left and now at the right of my necka and mid back.
I did cold and hot pads. I have been taken motrin off and on. I was told to let it go and give it time. Fine. But I am tired of hurting. Should i go see my doctor?
Please, advise.
Manuela

Answer
Since there was no traumatic injury, I believe that you are experiencing muscle pains from overuse.  I agree that it will relax after a while.  Continue the cold and hot packs to keep the blood flowing through the area to help with healing.

Stretching can also help relieve the pain.  Slow stretches like yoga will keep the muscles from tightening up which adds to the pain.  Stretch the area and hold the deepest stretch for a 5-10 count, even longer if you can do it.  Stretching helps work out the toxins that accumulate in tight muscles.  Those toxins add to the pain as well.

If the pain increases or continues for a long period, you should point it out to your doctor but I believe that it is basic muscle tension.

Thank you for your question, Manuela.  I hope that my answer was helpful.
