Hi Rusty,
My question is what is the difference between RA and Osteo. The symptoms I have are morning stiffness, swollen fingers, pain between my shoulder and elbow which I think is neuropathy but not sure.pain in both my hips and knees and severe pain in my feet.My neurologist thought I had mortons neuroma but after the ultra sound it might be arthritis.I haven't talked to my DR. yet.I also have Raynaud's&SLE.
Hope you can help Mary

Answer
Mary,

I am sorry to hear what you are going through. Raymaud's is more than anyone should have to endure by it self.

The difference between RA and Osteoarthritis is RA is an autoimmune problem that effects many, most or all your joints. Osteoarthritis is a condition of wear and tear to joints. In RA your immune system is attacking your joints in osteo your joints are reacting to years of wear and tear or trauma to a joint.

It is hard to shed any light on your condition because Raymaud's and Lupus can cause all the symptoms you have. Many patients with lupus also suffer from arthritis. The lack of blood supply to the extremities in Raymaud's can the joints in your hands and feet form being nourished causing arthritis as well.

I wish I could be more help. I wish you well.
