It is the number one problem for more and more people and can appear suddenly or it can slowly build to the point where its presence creates a notable impediment on daily activities. A person should not be put off seeking relief from their back pain thinking that such techniques are for the super athlete. Whilst Pilates is used by athletes as an effective technique for the prevention of injury it should also be considered by those who do no sporting activity as the proven means to alleviate discomfort from such ailments as back pain.

It is accepted that the cause of back pain will not disappear by itself though the discomfort may wear off after a period of distinct pain. Yet easy learn techniques offered by Pilates for both the beginner and inactive to those who are fitter yet still succumb to back pain, will afford them the opportunity to finally get to the route cause of the problem rather than, as most do, try and mask it with artificial suppressants or wait for the symptoms to reduce. By undertaking Pilates for back pain, there is the opportunity to attain better mobility and flexibility of the muscles and joints by building greater strength in the body's core muscles, resulting in a welcome relief from back pain.
