Arthritis, a serious and devastating condition affecting nearly one in three adult Americans, is the leading cause of disability in America. With over 100 different kinds of arthritis and joint disorders, continued research is critical to cure arthritis and help alleviate the suffering of millions of people. These diseases, such as osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, and bursitis, can be effectively treated and managed under proper care and guidance.

While the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) says that there is no cure for most types of arthritis, it is important to consider the type of arthritis when searching for a cure or remission from symptoms. Treatments are available that can alleviate the pain and suffering involved with this disease. Several types of arthritis caused by infections, such as bacterial arthritis and Lyme disease, can be cured with a course of antibiotics.

Viral arthritis, such as Parvovirus, will run its full course without treatment. Other forms of arthritis, such as gout, can be put in remission with the proper care and treatment. Osteoarthritis, the most common type of arthritis, has yet to see much progress in a real cure, prompting researchers to focus on ways to lower the risk of contracting this disease.

The Arthritis Cures and Remedies web page has many helpful suggestions to help with arthritis pain and cures for arthritis. The website contains a list of helpful foods, vitamins, tips, and exercise regiments designed to help cure arthritis and lessen the associated pain. For example, they advocate taking at least 500 mg of vitamin C throughout the day, as rheumatoid arthritis has been linked to vitamin C deficiency.

The non-profit organization "Cure Arthritis Now" has the mission of educating the public about arthritis and effective arthritis treatments. They focus on raising money for continued arthritis research and advocating for patients continued access to the appropriate arthritis treatments. The excellent resources available from their website include many tips and hints, a support group, and links to clinical trials studying cures for arthritis.

The Arthritis Trust of America, have a goal of "eradicating rheumatoid disease from the Earth". On their website they help provide cures for arthritis through a helpful list of publications, physician referrals, alternative, complementary, and holistic medical research.

While cures for arthritis do exist, and remission can be found, further research continues to search out more effective cures for this debilitating disease. The estimated annual cost of $125 billion a year in medical costs and lost productivity, coupled with the pain and suffering spread among millions of adults and hundreds of thousands of children, make it essential that we cure arthritis.
