Question
Hi. Im new at this. But I have a question.
My name is Samuel Middendorf from and I have a problem in my c1 and c2 vertebraes in my neck.
Im 20 years old. I had this injury according to the chiropractic since I was 5.
Related to small childhood back yard wrestling I had dislocated my neck and it popped back in once I got up. I do boxing, Mma, Judo, and kickboxing. Also some outdoor gymnastics.
They have a way to fix it. But they said I can never do my sports ever again.
Any thing I can do once its fixed? Like build muscle around the vertibraes of the neck and protect it?
I love my sports and don't want to give it up. Please help me?
My wife is supportive yet wanting me to quit my boxing but not my outdoor gymnastics called freerunning or parkour as its called. Any thing to answer my problem.

Answer
Samuel,

Thank you for your question. So I understand correctly you had a wrestling injury when you were a kid that dislocated a bone in your neck somewhere? Do you know where? Now you are 20 and have been doing MMA, Judo etc. and have had another injury/dislocation to your neck? Is this in the same place or a different place? and the Doctors do not want you to continue with these sports? Is the injury a dislocation again?

A neck dislocation usually would require surgery to repair and is a very serious injury. Your description sounds more like a sprain/strain of the neck. Did you go to a medical professional and they told you it was dislocated? Also, did the Chiropractor maybe use the word SUBluxation not dislocation?

Warm regards,
