Question
I'm a 28 year old male who gets muscle knots in my back when I weight lift. so far the only thing to fix them is electro accupuncture. do you think a tens machine would help get rid of them. if so how do  i find a doc to show me how to use it.

Answer
Aaron,

No, a TENS unit will not get rid of them.    It would be a waste of your time and money.    The "knots" can be reduced, depending on where they are or in what form they may be, by methods such as www.grastontechnique.com or www.faktr.com, or find a deep tissue therapist.   If these knots are in the neck and upper back across the shoulders, you may have a cervical spine joint condition, and in one study on "knots" the group that had their neck joints injected or "blocked" by an anesthetic (or it was a radio-frequency ablation where they zap the nerve that connects the joint; I forget), this group had their upper back "knots" go away.      Running electricity transcutaneously across your skin to make your muscles twitch will not do it.

'Hope this was helpful.
