Do I Need To Live With My Neck Pain

The alarm clock goes off and it is time to get up for the day. One movement and you realize that your neck is in so much pain you do not want to move. Ever again. In the chiropractic sphere, this pain is known as Acute Neck Pain, in which the pain appears from nowhere and drastically affects your ability to move your head in the full range of motion.

What happened? How did you end up with this horrible pain? The pain is produced by aggravating or straining the muscles in your neck, which results in tenderness, immobility, and inflammation. There are a few different causes behind this pain, such as tripping and falling, sleeping uncomfortably, trauma or whiplash from an automobile collision. All of these reasons result in that same consuming pain.

So when this consuming pain takes over, what do you turn to? Most doctors will recommend drugs with significant doses of narcotics to numb the pain. But the downside to narcotics is that they hinder and decrease your ability to function fully. Drugs without narcotics just do not stifle the aching pain you are experiencing. Your options are to either take the narcotics and potentially endanger your life or just put up with the pain.

Maybe a visit to your chiropractor will help that horrible pain! When we take a look at statistics for other patients with acute neck pain, we find that the overwhelming majority of patients (94%) were pleased with their chiropractic care. A study published in the Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics in 2006 found that in a group of 94 patients who experienced pain at a mean level of 7.6 lessened that level of pain to less than 2 with an average of 24 visits!

Keep reading that study: It shows that prior to any treatment, 84% of the patients experienced limited movement due to the acute neck pain, while only 25% still felt any disabilities after their treatment had been completed. Additionally, at the beginning, 57% of the patients described their disabilities as moderately severe or greater, but after chiropractic treatment, only 12% of the patients experienced that same level of pain.

Trauma cases are slightly different than waking up one morning with acute neck pain. In trauma cases, there is generally added tissue injury, which can heal imperfectly. As a result in the study, trauma patients received nearly 3 times as many visits to overcome long-term pain and physical impairment as a result of the traumatic events.

And think about this: This is only ONE study in a vast array of other studies that conclude that the drug-free method of chiropractic care is one of the greatest solutions for acute neck pain. Are you suffering with that tremendous neck pain? Call for an appointment to see your chiropractor today to start on the road to recovery!
