Reiki is an ancient form of non-invasive therapy using the hands to relieve people of a number of ailments, including skin disorders, arthritis and other forms of pain relief. For many years it was a popular form of relief for people and it’s become popular again as more people flock to more natural forms of pain relief, especially for aches and chronic pain.
And now, Reiki is becoming a more popular form of therapy for dogs with pain and chronic pain such as arthritis and joint discomfort. According to PetHealing.net, animals, especially cats, are naturally receptive to the Reiki energy and tend to gravitate towards it readily. Some pets may initially prefer to experience the energy from a slight distance, rather than having the practitioner's hands directly on them. Reiki sessions for pets typically last 20-30 minutes and the frequency of sessions depend entirely on each individual animal's health status and needs. Some health issues can be resolved in two or three sessions, others may take ongoing sessions on a recurring basis.
The website also shares these benefits of Reiki for pets:

1. Enhances overall well-being. Just like people, even healthy pets can have occasional physical, emotional and mental imbalances that, if left untreated, can manifest as illness. Periodic Reiki treatments can help maintain your pet's natural state of well-being and balance.

2. Strengthens the immune system for cancer therapies. Cancer therapies such as chemotherapy and radiation present stress to an already compromised immune system. Reiki strengthens the immune system to better deal with this additional stress.

3. Accelerates healing following surgery or illness.
Reiki can alleviate and prevent side effects of conventional medications such as pain killers and antibiotics, and provides pain relief and relaxation to facilitate and enhance the body's natural healing response.

4. Increases trust and bonding between you and your pet.
People and pets often mirror each other’s physical and emotional states. Animals are natural healers and sometimes take on their person's problems, often in an attempt to heal them.

5. Can help with behavior issues by promoting relaxation and stress reduction.
Many behavior issues are caused by stress. Reiki has a calming effect on the pet and may help make the pet more receptive to training and behavior modification.

6. Provides comfort and relieves pain, anxiety and fear for terminally ill animals.
Reiki is a wonderful way to facilitate the transition for terminally ill animals and their owners. Joint Reiki treatments for the pet and his or her person can help both through this difficult time by enhancing the bond and allowing a gentle transition.
Rob Fellows has been practicing Reiki in the U.K. for 12 years and has been working more with canine patients to bring relief from many different forms of pain ailments. He warmed up to canine Reiki after using it on his own dog, a spaniel named Joe. The Reiki helped his dog increase some joint mobility, but unfortunately Joe was getting up there in age and passed away a few years back. Rob said the Reiki made Joe more comfortable until his last days.
Dog owners have provided lots of feedback to Flexcin saying their dogs experience great results when their dog combines the FlexPet joint nutritional supplement with increased exercise or another form of alternative massage to loosen up the joints. FlexPet has CM8 (cetyl myristoleate), which builds back much of the lost cartilage or damaged cartilage in between the joints, increasing the overall joint mobility for dogs. The company is seeing more and more pet owners use therapies like Reiki, Acupuncture and Hydrotherapy in conjunction with natural supplements to provide an all-natural remedy for their pets in pain.
