Some Surprising Common Causes Of Severe Chronic Back Pains

However, when it comes to severe chronic lower back pain, some of the pain individuals experience may actually be due to some very common causes. Here are just some of the more common causes that may be causing you that pain in the back that just doesn't seem to go away. Overweight

Overweight

Having a few to several extra pounds on your frame may be the reason why you have that lower back ache that just never seems to go away. One of the jobs of the muscles in your lower back is to help support the weight of your upper body. Carrying around extra weight day in and day out can weaken these muscles resulting in your back feeling achy and tired almost daily. In some cases losing as little as 5 or 10 pounds could well help end that back pain for good.

Poor Posture

Almost all of us remember our parents telling us to stand up straight, shoulders, back, head up or at least to stop slouching. While that parental advice was probably given because they thought we looked better standing up straight than hunched over they were on the right track to helping us avoid that aching back. Some lower back pain is a direct result of poor posture when standing and some upper back pain can be linked to a poor sitting posture. When your posture is poor you force your spine into an unnatural position which causes a constant pull on the muscles which in turn may turn into a constant pain in your back. Improving your posture may well help to relieve some of those chronic backaches you are experiencing.

Blame The Job, Your Spouse, The Poor Economy

While your job, your spouse and the economy may not be the direct cause of your back pains, the stress that daily life causes in your life may well be contributing significantly to that chronic back pain. When we get stressed it is natural for our muscles to tighten up and begin to ache. Finding a way to deal with stress better, as well as taking hot showers to relax your muscles, getting exercise and having a good old fashion massage when you are feeling really stressed will help to ease the tension in your muscles and rid you of stress related back pains as well.

That Morning Back Pain

If you find yourself waking up each morning with a stiff and aching back that slowly eases as you start moving and the day goes by, chances are your mattress is to blame for that aching back. Mattresses that don't support your weight correctly or have lumps, bumps and hollows are probably the cause of that morning back pain. When your back muscles and spine does not get proper support it results in achy and tired muscles and everything from a slight backache to a severe pain. Purchasing a new mattress that offers proper support will result in both you and your back feeling better rested and the absence of pain.

While there are many other causes for a pain in the back these common causes are more common than you might think.
