Scoliosis is generally referred to an abnormal curvature of the spine in a person. This condition can be very serious as it  affects patients psychologically as well as  physically. Some people may be born with this defect right from the time of birth. Although a lot of treatments such as surgery or over  the counter medications are available that can treat this defect, we will enlist here three major alternative scoliosis treatment. Alternative treatments are generally defined as those treatment methods that are outside the accepted therapies of the medical profession. However this does not mean that these therapies are not effective. These therapies  have not only helped in eliminating the pain and suffering of many victims of this disease, but have also been successful in curing diseases which many in the medical world have regarded as incurable.

The first alternative treatment for Scoliosis is Rehabilitation. Rehabilitation centers provide treatment to the victims of this deformity through exercise. Stretching and breathing exercises help the victim to recover from the deformity.  Exercises programs are also customized as per the need of the patient.  Through rehabilitation programs curvatures ranging from a degree of 8 to 80 can be cured. Treatments of this rehabilitation centers are absolutely safe and non-invasive and exercises are done under the supervision of trained therapists. The duration of most of the rehabilitation programs are generally 4 weeks. The program can be completed at the normal pace or stretched to two months ar as per the comfort of the patient.

The second alternative treatment method is Alexander's Technique. This is a method that is not only useful for scoliosis but for a number of problems related to head, neck, shoulder, back. This method can be summed up in the following four words “use of self help”. This technique teaches a person how to move, stay still, how to remain vigilant, aware and  most importantly how to focus. The main aim of this technique is to re-establish the contact between the back and the neck as these are the two core components which provide strength to the body but also a sort of structural environment for breathing and proper functioning of the internal organs. This technique not only solves the problem of scoliosis but also helps in the overall development of the personality of a person.

Pilate is another alternative method for treating scoliosis. This is generally a collection of exercises developed in the 20th century by Joseph Pilate. But over the years this has not only developed into a effective exercise but also a fitness process that controls the mind, gives strength to the core areas of the body and also provides a feeling of self confidence and well being in the person.
