Back Pain - A Common Neurological Problem

Back pain is the pain which is usually instigated from the bones, nerves and also spine. The pain can be a sudden chronic pain. Along with the pain other symptoms are also prevalent like weakness, unresponsiveness of the muscles and a pricking sensation in the affected area. This pain is a very common concern. It can have many fundamental reasons but no particular cause could be there. It needs proper diagnosis and also a regular evaluation. It is often seen that the pain is unbearable but all of a sudden it disappears as well. This pain can be rated as the very next reason for visiting a doctor right after the common cold. Doctors refer to this pain as acute if it starts for less than a month and chronic if it continues for a long time.

Common causes of the pain are due to some injury in the muscles, bones or nerves. Normal pregnancy can also cause this pain in various ways such as ligament stretch in the pelvis or a strain in the low back. The lumbosacral area pain, that is, the Lower back pain is originated down the side of the leg or the back of the leg. It can also be limited to low back. If there is a continuous movement or stress in the affected area, the pain can get worse. The pain also gets worse if a person sits for a long time and also at nights. This causes a difficulty to stand on foot after a prolonged sitting.

Different people have different approaches towards the pain. Some people try to quickly reduce the pain so that they can continue with their regular activities. This is mainly done by the ones who have the fear of the side-effects. Some try to keep it under control. Some try to use methods other than surgery. And there are some who goes in for the surgical method to get rid of the pain quickly. Every treatment does not work for every patient. Some need to try different treatments and then come to conclusion about which one suits them the best.

For back pain relief there are various things found. Medicines can be used like muscle relaxants. This help in the reduction of the pain. Painkillers are also available but these are not the permanent solutions. There is also the heat therapy. Now-a-days there are several products in the market like the heat-belts. Many companies have introduced such belts which if used regularly keeps the pain in control.

Regular exercise is another way of keeping this pain under control and if continued properly it can also reduce the pain. Massage from some expert therapist can also be helpful. Physiotherapy can be of use as well. Acupuncture also has a beneficial effect on this pain. For the extreme pain the surgeries are the best option. If the pain is due to tumor it is better to have the removal surgery done. This would help in the prevention of the spread of cancer to the other parts of the body.
