Back Pain Relief: Ways To Combat A Chronic Problem

A chronic problem faced by a majority of people irrespective of age is back pain. The first thing that doctors generally prescribe for back pain relief is medication in the form of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as ibuprofen. Muscle relaxant drugs are also prescribed for severe back pain cases.

Further, moist heat application, either by soaking in a warm bath for about twenty minutes or applications of warm compresses are good back pain relief techniques. Cold compresses may have do help but are not as effective as warm compresses. Other options for effective back pain relief are simple and passive exercises and yoga, which help to limber and loosen out the stiffened back muscles. Physical therapy and oil massages also help in giving relief from such pain. Besides these, use of certain back braces help in supporting the back.
