Arthritis In Knee
9/23 16:03:21
People do really not know how much they need their knees until something goes wrong. Keens are the crucial part of the human body, and preserving them is very important. Knee arthritis can strike people at any age, but it is most common in people who are over 50 years of age. Other common contributing factors of knee arthritis, in addition to someone age, would include being overweight, suffering through trauma to the knee and ligament or bone damage.

Symptoms of acute knee arthritis are often debilitating and painful, especially if the problem is left untreated. Unlike most of the other diseases, symptoms can fade or disappear altogether some days, and strike fiercely and unexpectedly other days.

There are three major types of knee arthritis. Osteoarthritis is one of the most common forms, and generally strikes people who are middle-aged. This type of knee arthritis normally gets worse as time goes on. Progressively, the cartilage that surrounds the knee area is worn away, causing the bones to rub together. Rheumatoid arthritis is another type of inflammation of the knee that can destroy the cartilage surrounding the knee. This kind of knee arthritis can strike at any age, and it generally affects both of the knees and not just one. Post-traumatic arthritis is the main and last type of knee arthritis and as reported this type of knee arthritis occurs after an injury. The symptoms may not show up for years after people have sustained an injury to the knee, but once it does, it can be painful.

Symptoms of acute knee arthritis are different from patient to patient. People may experience good days, or bad days. The sufferers of knee arthritis, in some cases, complain that the weather affects their symptoms. If it is cold or damp outside, the arthritic symptoms may increase in severity compared to when it is dry and warmer outside. The common symptoms of knee arthritis include a weakness in the knee, joint swelling, knee area feels stiff, range of motion is reduced, knee can become deformed, the knee and surrounding area becomes sore to the touch. People should never allow knee arthritis to ruin their mobility. If people notice any of the symptoms of knee arthritis listed above, should see their doctor. The longer people leave it untreated, the worse the symptoms can become.

While visiting with the physician is important there are a number of things people can do to alleviate the pain in their knees, if people are suffering from knee arthritis.

Firstly if people are overweight, they should strongly consider losing weight in order to take some of the pressure off their knees. Staying away from any sort of exercise that may exert extra, unneeded pressure on the knee is also recommended. In severe cases of knee arthritis, people may be required to undergo knee replacement surgery. A knee brace can also help to lend extra support to the knee. If people tend to have more pain when certain knee movements occur they should highly consider the support a knee brace can provide. A low quality knee brace can prevent excessive movements and as a result reduce the knee pain. This is extremely important when people forget about their arthritic symptoms and make a movement without thinking. This is when the knee brace can be the most effective aid.
