Back pain is also called as dorsalgia and it is the pain essentially felt in the back. These pains usually originate from muscles, nerves, joints, bones and other such parts of the spinal cord. Generally, back pain happens in the lower and the upper region of back which includes the pelvin region and buttock. Most of the people suffer from this ailment throughout the world.

You may feel the pain anywhere near the spinal cord region. Causes of back pain are many. The good news, however, is that with some help, you can fully get rid of it within a few weeks. But the bad news is that it is the most complicated and painful condition faced by patients. So, it's necessary that you know what factors cause back pain so as to keep yourself away from it!

Causes of back pain may be ruptured disc, spinal stenosis, lumbar muscle strain, Spondylolisthesis, Discogenic backache and osteoporosis. Constriction of spine due to arthritis that occurs as we age is the major reason why spinal stenosis occurs.

This causes stiffness that leads to back pain. Ruptured disc is caused by herniation of intervertebral disc. If the condition of the vertebra is unstable, it leads to spondylolisthesis. When spinal column starts to dislocate from its normal position due to instability, this is caused.

Improper postures also account for the causes of back pain. If your sitting or standing posture is not proper then it may lead to backache. Sitting at a same place in same position may be very dangerous as it exerts pressure on the back. Thus, you regularly need to change your sitting position. Leisure time is also suitable for a walk. In other case if your job requires you to stand for long hours then also you may exert pressure on your back. You need to take sufficient rest and keep your back straight if you want to avoid these situations.

There are quite a lot of medicines available that help reduce back pain. They are available in pill and gel forms. Surgery is suggested by experts only in extreme cases. But the safest treatment for back pain is bed rest.
