Beyond Medical Treatment—Natural Cures for Arthritis
9/23 15:21:42

Despite the many advancements made in medical technology, scientists and doctors have failed to produce a medical cure for arthritis. Instead, sufferers of the condition are forced to carefully monitor and manage their arthritis with one or more of the many medical treatments available.

However, some people affected with the condition turn to other ways of addressing the pain. Natural remedies and cures for arthritis are an increasingly popular way to relieve the pain and inflammation. Despite skepticism regarding the effectiveness of natural arthritis cures, many have found them to be a successful way to live a happy, pain-free life.

Natural Arthritis Cures

One common herb that is used to cure the condition is nettle leaf. The use of nettle leaf originated in Germany, and it works due to the many different active compounds that it contains, which include COX and lipooxygenase inhibitors. Ginger is another herb that has a long-standing tradition of being used to cure arthritis. Ginger has a few medically active components, and it is known for fighting prostaglandins, which are sometimes responsible for muscle pain.

There are other plants that are commonly used as arthritis cures. These include boswellia and white willow bark. Boswellia is comprised of anti-inflammatory triterpenoids called boswellic acids. The plant is able to reduce inflammation by preventing the production of proinflammatory chemicals. White willow bark is comparable to aspirin in its pain-killing abilities. White willow bark contains glycoside salicin, which is the compound responsible for its pain-relieving affects. Other plants, such as wintergreen and meadowsweet, also contain this compound.

Omega-3 fish oils and antioxidants are two other natural arthritis cures. Omega-3 fish oils contain essential fatty acids, which are converted by the body into series 3 prostagladins. These prostagladins have anti-inflammatory properties. Antioxidants, while they might not cure arthritis, have been proven to prevent the condition before it becomes a problem.

Preventing The Problem—Naturally

One known factor that affects arthritis is diet. Whether or not you are affected by arthritis is often a result of what you are eating. By eating a healthy diet, you can prevent arthritis before it becomes a major problem.

Future Findings

Although there are no medical cures for arthritis at this time, many natural arthritis cures are just as effective. Who knows—perhaps in ten years, scientists will have completed enough research to develop an arthritis cure. Faced with a future full of possibility, we must be content with natural remedies until then.
