Acupuncture word is derived from Latin words acu’ meaning with a needle’ and puncture meaning penetrate. It involves a collection of procedures and techniques in which certain points in the body are stimulated by inserting needles into the body or applying finger pressure. Developed in China, Acupuncture Therapy is now used in a number of countries as an effective means for treating various ailments. It is a traditional Chinese method to correct certain imbalances in the flow of qi (natural energy) with the help of channels known as meridians. It has been proven successful in treating a multitude of conditions including some complex and serious medical problems.

Types Of Acupuncture Techniques-

  • Needling Technique - Needles are inserted either manually or electrically into the tissue or the skin.

  • Non-Needling Technique - This involves the stimulation of Acupuncture points by suction or finger pressure. It also includes moxibustion in which heat is applied to points by burning pieces of dried mugwort plant.
