Joints may seem to be just the area where two bones meet. But then, the area is actually prone to friction, if not without lubrication and cartilage that serves to cushion the bones. The cartilage wears downs as people age and the body produces less lubricant in the joints, therefore directions increases and joint pain and inflammation are likely to occur. This is the case of arthritis, the major cause of complains from older people concerning joint pains especially in the knees, fingers and spine. Joint pain is an indication of damage in the joint, which could be prevented by strengthening the joints. Vitamin D and other vitamins are needed to prevent further damage from occurring.

Role of Vitamins in Joint Pain

Vitamin deficiency plays important role in the development of many age-related disorders including arthritis. Some people naturally have weak joint as they were borne with it. In both cases, joint pain vitamins are needed. Vitamins such as D, A, C and E along with essential fatty acids can all help relieve the symptoms of arthritis and perhaps halt its progression. Arthritis may progress into a more debilitating disorder which can cause greater amount of suffering. Though, this disorder progresses, its progression can be slowed down when vitamins needed for health joints are present.

Joints need to be strengthened as well. Although, vitamin deficiency is not the primary cause of joint disorders, deficiency in important vitamins affects the rate at which these disorders develop. Deficiency in vitamin D for example prevents the body from rebuilding the cartilage when it has worn out, which can speed up the progression of arthritis. Other than vitamin D, deficiency in vitamin C has been found in studies to increase the risk for arthritis and other joint disorders. In addition, the joints may be attacked by free radicals and damage them. Antioxidant vitamins A, C and E all play a protective role of the joints. Essential fatty acids on the other hand, reduce inflammation and pain associated with arthritis.

Taking Joint Pain Vitamins for Healthy Joints

One may decide to take these joint pain vitamins to protect oneself from early occurrence of arthritis. Indeed, arthritis may not be evaded, everyone has to experience it. But at least, the development of the disorder is delayed and the symptoms will be more controllable. Older adults who are already suffering from arthritis need these vitamins the most.
