If you have ever woken up with back pain, or experienced it throughout the day, then you are likely very interested in finding back pain remedies that will actually work. So many of them do not, after all, and no one really wants to go through a trial and error process when it comes to pain. You just want it to be over as soon as possible, both for your comfort and for your health.

One of the biggest things that people do not think about when they think about what could be causing their back pain is their mattress. Think about it, there are many, many different springs in your mattress, even if you have a pillow top and they are all pressing in on you all night. One thing that you may need to do, is discuss your mattress with your doctor and let them help you pick out a brand new mattress to stop the back pain.

When you lift heavy objects a good deal of the time, you could be putting significant stress on your back. What kind of job do you have? Does even a hobby involve any heavy lifting? Even if you spend a lot of time lifting children, it could cause back pain. You can do two things here. One involves making sure that you are lifting things properly, with the legs instead of the back. You can also look into getting one of those braces or lifting belts.

One of the biggest back pain remedies that you need to take into consideration when you are experiencing back pain is going to be over the counter meds. These meds can be herbal or not, but they will definitely help you. You do however; want to talk to your doctor about what ones will help you the most.

A great tip that will assist with your back pain is to try switching hot and cold compresses. If you use an ice pack to numb the pain away and then use a hot pack to relax the pain away, you should be feeling less pain in no time at all!

Sometimes a hot bath with epsom salt is a viable, comforting alternative to a heating pad. You just have to be certain that you do not lounge around in a position which is uncomfortable. It can cause your back pain to get worse.

Surgery is the last option most of the time. It should only be considered when everything else has failed. The same goes for prescription medications, like muscle relaxants and NSAIDs. These are both options which should be discussed with your physician.
