It is surprising to learn that as many as ninety percent of all Americans have had to deal with back pain at least once in their lives. This in turn leads many of them to have to visit a doctor to find some way to get relief. Back pain can affect people in their homes and also in their offices and to cure or treat the problem these people are spending billions of dollars and about half of this money is being spent on surgical procedures.

Find Suitable Treatments

It will of course also pay to understand what chronic back pain causes are because this is a problem that can lead to a lifetime of suffering and without understanding the underlying chronic back pain causes it would become very hard if not impossible to find suitable treatment.

There are two different chronic back pain causes that you should look for and one is the one that occurs due to an unidentified physical condition or even a physical condition that has been improperly diagnosed. The other common chronic back pain cause is psychological and is attributed to suffering from back pain that is treatment resistant. In such instances the causes could be ascribed to certain abnormalities in the spine though in reality the true chronic back pain causes are psychological and they require suitable counseling to help the patient get over what would otherwise turn out to be a psychological condition that may even last for a lifetime.

However, in a majority of chronic back pain cases the real chronic back pain causes are undetected and unknown and often very difficult to identify properly. A herniated disk could be a possible cause for which you will need to consult your doctor who will consider various options as well as risks associated with the condition and then try and find a possible solution.

Among the possible treatment options that will hopefully deal with the different chronic back pain causes you can include methods that are multifaceted and which can use a variety of interventions that will hopefully address three different factors – psychological, physical and also social.

One of the most oft cited reasons why people suffer from chronic neck and back pain, whiplash is something can and will result in serious damage to the spine. Many studies have been undertaken in order to find out just what the consequences of suffering from whiplash are and these studies go on to show that the amount of injury caused is actually not even directly proportional to the speed at which you collided your car and met with an accident. However, pain in the back and neck will still be quite severe.
