Nursing and Back Pain: How to Deal

When you have a baby, of course you want to do everything that you can to provide your baby with the most nutrition possible.

Nursing your baby is really one of the best things that you will ever do for them. There is nothing that is going to be more positive and have more of an impact on your baby’s overall health than you breastfeeding them. Research shows that breast milk has antibodies which are able to protect against infection, and this is something that regular cow’s milk just won’t do.

Plus, did you know that each mom’s milk is specially made for her own baby? Your body knows what your baby needs, and so your milk would not be as good for another baby as it will be for your own. Breast milk is great for a baby’s nutrition and will help them to strive.

However, there are a few drawbacks that eager moms often experience when they start breastfeeding their baby.

Nursing and back pain is one of the most common problems, and one that you are no doubt dealing with if you are nursing your baby. However, you should be aware that in today’s day and age, nursing and back pain does not have to be a problem and there are lots of different ways to deal with this problem.

Finding a Solution

If you are suffering from nursing and back pain, one of the first things that you should try is propping a pillow up underneath of your arm. You want to make sure that your body and mainly your back is fully supported by a cushion or better yet a body pillow. This way you are not straining your back and will not be in pain after nursing the baby.

Especially when the baby is quite young and you are going to be nursing on a regular basis, you do not want to have your back in pain or it is just going to make everything more difficult.

Another option to help deal with nursing and back pain is medication, but you obviously have to be really careful when it comes to medication if you are nursing your baby. Just make sure that when you need to find relief of your nursing and back pain that you speak to your doctor to make sure that whatever you do, you are not going to be putting yourself or your baby at any risk.
