Causes of right arm pain Right arm pain maybe a way in which the body tells you that it needs enough rest. There are many reasons why your right arm may endure pain and weakness, which may be accompanied by numbness, tingling, and a burning sensation in the arm. It may be due to injury or compression of the nerves. Pain in the right arm may also indicate that you may be suffering from a vascular disease. So make sure you never neglect the pain in the right arm or else it may lead to serious and complicated medical conditions. Besides injury to the nerves, pain may also be caused if the muscles, bones, ligaments, and tendons gets injured.

Causes
Many a time if you sleep with the right hand under your head for a long time, there may be a tingling pain in the arm. If you sit on a chair with your arms hanging on the back, it may result in pain of the hands.

Moreover, wearing straps on the hands and inflated cuff while blood pressure is being measured may also cause the right arm to succumb to pain. In these cases, pain is caused as the blood flow to the parts of the hand is reduced.

Another common reason for pain in the right arm is the inappropriate blood supply to the arm, especially during winters. During winters, the arteries may narrow down, and so there is inadequate supply of blood to those parts.

The carpal tunnel syndrome may also cause this condition. This is caused if the median nerve is compressed, thereby, resulting in tingling pain in the hand, wrist, arms, and fingers. The condition may get extremely painful in case you try to move your wrist. Many a time you would find your hands becoming weak which may result in you dropping objects more frequently.

Joint pain due to arthritis is another common reason for pain and weakness in the right arm. If you get arthritis, your joints would be inflamed and you won't be able to move your arms. In some extreme cases, pain in the right arm may also indicate that you may be suffering from a mild heart attack.

Painful Right Arm in Women
Women are more prone to right arm pain, especially due to injury to the elbow and due to rheumatoid arthritis. The additional weight during pregnancy puts enormous pressure on the joints thereby, affecting the right arm. Studies in the recent past have shown that women are as prone to heart attack as men are. If there is a heart attack, it starts with a tingling sensation in the right arm, which most women neglect as minor pain.

Pain in the Arm and Chest
If you get chest pain along with pain in the right arm, never, ever ignore it. It may be due to a mild heart attack or myocardial infarction as a doctor would call it. It may be accompanied by pain in the upper middle abdomen, neck, jaws, vomiting, nausea, and sweating. If you get any or all of these symptoms, you need to get it diagnosed as early as possible because, if it is not treated early enough, it may be life-threatening. So you always need to keep the possibility of heart attack in mind whenever you get a pain in your right arm. You need to get a blood test and ECG done as soon as possible so that appropriate medicines can be given.

Upper Right Arm Pain
Pain in the upper right arm may be due to several reasons and the most common of them are injuries, carpal tunnel syndrome, and bicipital tendinitis. If you get an injury to the upper arm, you may bruise or fracture your arms, which may result in pain. Moreover, if the nerves are compressed due to some reason, it may cause pain. Tendonitis, a condition wherein the tendons are injured due to vigorous activities, like weightlifting, may also result in pain.

It maybe that the pain in the right hand is due to some problem with other organ. And your right hand is picking up the signals from it and you are experiencing the referred pain, such as you may experience if there is leakage of spinal fluid in the neck.

Thus, you should never ignore a right arm pain. As with all medical conditions, the doctor knows best, and if you have any questions and queries, you need to consult one.
