Arthritic Knees

In recent years, a book came out called The Arthritis Cure, which exposed some groundbreaking treatments and remedies for arthritis. Arthritis of the knee is one of the most common forms of arthritis because of the consistent stress knees undergo. In the book, the author expounds on two substances that supposedly attack the symptoms of arthritis, chondroitin and glucosamine.

This book spawned a huge demand for these two arthritis supplements. All of a sudden, people couldn't have enough glucosamine and chondroitin. Moreover, when the book was released, these two substances were largely unproven and untested. People desperately wanted an effective treatment for their painful arthritic knees, hips, elbows, wrists, fingers, and shoulders so they rushed to their local pharmacies and loaded up on two substances most had never heard of.

Can Glucosamine and Chondroitin Really Help?

What followed was atypical. When so-called miracle drugs or miracle supplements hit the market, people often try the products and end up disappointed. Their expectations are elevated to such a point that anything less than a miracle is a disappointment. Well, glucosamine and chondroitin actually worked for the people who used it to treat their arthritis, especially arthritic knees.

To further scrutinize the effectiveness of glucosamine and chondroitin, Dr. Amal Das, Jr. conducted tests on 100 patients and had them take glucosamine and chondroitin. His findings were encouraging. Following the tests, he concluded that moderate doses of glucosamine and chondroitin can be an effective treatment for mild to moderate forms of arthritis.
