9/23 15:23:05

Arthritis of any type can be devastatingly frustrating to deal with, but for degenerative arthritis of the spine this is particularly true. Degenerative arthritis of the spine can result in such intense pain and inflammation that you will be unable to get on with your day to day activities.

Whether you are dealing with degenerative cervical arthritis, degenerative arthritis of the spine or any other type of arthritis for that matter, there are a few basic things that you are going to want to understand.

What Causes it

There are usually known causes of diseases, but there is actually no known cause of any type of arthritis, but there are a few factors that are considered as playing a part here. In particular there are a few different medical causes that have proven to possibly result in arthritis.

This includes serum sickness, Sweet’s disease, Caplan’s disease, sickle cell disease, Rheumatic fever, Dressler’s syndrome, Deferiprone, Hepatitis A, obesity, Wilson’s disease, urate crystal arthropathy, and Methimazole.

Treatment

Treatment for arthritis can be very difficult to find, especially so when it comes to degenerative arthritis of the spine. Aside from weight reduction and avoiding activities that are going to exert excessive stress on the joint cartilage, there is really no specific treatment that is going to halt degenerative arthritis of the spine.

The goal instead here, is to reduce overall joint pain and inflammation while improving and maintaining joint function.

You will want to keep a close eye on your diet, as what you eat here will have a major affect on your arthritis condition. Make sure that you talk to your doctor and keep them informed and abreast of any improvements you are making.

Remember that medications are used to compliment the physical measures that are involved, and medication may be used topically, taken orally, or even injected directly into the joints in order to offer pain relief. Resting your joints will also provide you with relief, and swelling as well. Patients are asked to simply decrease the intensity and frequency of the activities that they participate in, which consistently cause joint pain.

Arthritis is actually considered as being one of the most difficult conditions in the world to deal with, but with the right help and advice, you will be able to get back to living as normal a life as possible and at least be offered pain relief from your degenerative arthritis of the spine condition.
