Although constipation and leg pain are different conditions and occur in different parts of the body, they may be interconnected and can have a common origin. In most cases, the origin is related to nerve damage or dysfunction.

It is also seen that people with leg pain have a greater chance of constipation and vice versa. In fact, constipation is one of the major symptoms of leg pain along with sharp or shooting pain and weakness or sensory disturbance of legs.

If you have suffered an injury to the bone, muscle or tendon of your leg, it's easy to connect these injuries to leg pain and seek treatment. Sometimes, however, the cause of leg pain is not crystal clear. Vascular disorders involving the vessels that carry blood and lymph throughout the body can cause blood clots or varicose veins. Blood clots, known as deep vein thrombosis, often result from prolonged bed rest.

Pain in your legs can also be caused by an infection. Sometimes, you mobility can actually be impaired. And if you suffer from inflammation from arthritis or gout, the joints in your leg can be attacked. This makes activities that you perform everyday quite painful.

If your leg hurts and it's difficult to get around, then how are you going to do the things you need to do for the day? How are you going to function when the pain becomes severe? Many difficulties can result from not being able to do what you need because of back and leg pain. There are several reasons why you may experience pain back of leg.

It can be caused by muscle strain and stress, or a more serious complication such as a misalignment of the spine or a condition called sciatica.

Sometimes the patients spontaneously get relief from sciatica pain, but those who do not should first try conservative treatment. You should take rest for a few days and avoid doing strenuous physical activities. You can take over-the-counter anti-inflammatory medicines alone with physical therapy that involves stretching and strengthening exercises.

The last condition is called piriformis syndrome. This condition is widely known due to its association with sports that include running, change of direction, or any weight lifting activities. Piriformis syndrome occurs when the piriformis muscle is shortened. This causes the sciatic nerve to be compressed, causing serious pain and irritation.

Since improper digestion can cause leg pains, care must be taken not to eat anything that can cause digestive problems. Do not consume constipating foods; keep your diet simple. Consume plenty of green vegetables and leafy vegetables that contain fiber. Vitamin C obtained from amalaki, oranges and tomatoes is also good for digestion. After each meal, make it a habit to eat a plantain instead of some calorie-rich dessert like ice-cream.

A plantain is a food that is extremely rich in minerals of potassium, magnesium and calcium. Hence it is extremely beneficial for proper metabolism within the leg region. Avoid coffee and chocolate if you have persistent leg pain problems.

As you can see there are a lot of conditions and factors that go along with sciatic nerve leg pain and it is important that you know exactly what is causing your pain. Once you have found your condition, it is time to start treating your pain with different exercises and stretches. Sciatica is condition that can be cured fast if proper steps are successfully completed.
