Knee arthritis is usually a slow progressive degenerative disease in which the joint cartilage gradually wears away. It most often affects middle-aged older people but can develop in younger people as well.

In order to prevent developing arthritis in the first place you should make sure that you are eating the right foods, and more than anything you need to be getting enough calcium. If you don’t like to drink milk, are lactose intolerant, or otherwise just want to make sure that you are getting enough calcium in your diet, there are supplements that you can take.

These come in pill form and liquid form and you just want to remember to take the recommended dosage every morning and night, to ensure that you are getting the calcium that you need so that your bones will stay strong and you will be that much less likely to develop arthritis.

Knee arthritis can result in a great deal of arthritis knee pain. It can get to be so bad that you can hardly move your legs at all, and in this case you are just going to have to lie down and relax, at least until you are not in so much pain. There are treatments available, such as medication which is something that your doctor will probably prescribe to you right off the bat, especially if your condition is far developed.

You do not have to rely on medication for the long term for your knee arthritis however, and there are lots of easy to use and effective natural remedies that are out there as well if this is something that you are more interested in using.
