This Chicago, South Loop & Elmhurst Orthopedic Podiatrist of AnklenfootCenters.com says.......

Dear Tim

Sorry for the delay. Was lecturing some surgeons.
The usual causes of Achilles rupture are eccentric loading of the tendon. For example if you are running and step in a pothole that you do not see and the foot over extends, then that excessive forceful movement may cause a rupture. Excessive pull of the tendon when the foot is planted-NFL type injuries-will cause rupture of the Achilles tendon also. Sometimes the tendon can be weakened by certain pathologies such as arthritic spurs, rheumatoid arthritis, gout and similar pathologies.
Regular jogging will not cause damage to your Achilles tendon.

Good Luck!!!
