Question
I work at home and am bare-footed most of the day. What I experience, is an intermittent and random swelling of different parts of the foot pad. Doesn't really hurt, and doesn't normally last very long.(couple of hours). Comes on very quickly on any part of the foot pad. Any thoughts!

Answer
This Chicago, South Loop & Elmhurst Podiatrist of AnklenfootCenters.com says.......

Dear Rick,
For your toe foot-pad swelling.Perhaps you are irritating the joints of the ball of the foot just enough to cause some swelling-but not pain. This can happen especially if you are overweight or on hard surfaces for a long time. The fat pad also loses thickness & protection abilities as we age. You may have decreased sensation to your foot or foot-pad. I would just start with some a lightweight gym-shoe or sandal and see if that helps. Avoid flip-flops.
Also consider mild arthritis to those joints.
Additional concerns should be directed to your podiatrist.
Hope This Helps!
and
Good Luck!
