Question
Hello, I suffering from  left leg pain past 8 months. Then I undergone MRI scan. The result as follows Disc dehydration in l4-l5 & l5-s1 discs. Annular tear with posterior & central disc protrusion in l3-l4 disc causing indention on anterior thecal sac.. Protrusion & eccentric disc extrusion is seen in l4-l5 disc with annular calcification causing compreesion of cauda equina & exiting nerve roots on both sides.(11*10mms)
posterior & eccentric disc protrusion in D5- d6 disc causing indentation on anterior thecal sac & mild compression of right D6 nerve root.
For this Dr suggested to take bed rest for 4 weeks.Pain reduced. But still paining in leg & in buttocks area . I am not to do any exercise but now i am going for acupunture treatment.(4 times). Can I go for acupuncture treatment? I am not doing my normal activty.Pain increases when i sit on chair for more than 1 -2 hours and during morning when i wake up from bed? Please suggest me what to do & how can i recover from this pain?

Answer
hi uma

the acupunture might help- it is sometimes very good at alleviating pain, so i would say go ahead and try it

if you continue to have so much pain, you might ask your doctor about getting steroid injections into the bulging discs. it can allow the disc to reduce its swelling and let the area heal

that's my best recommendation (and one of the few non-surgical things you could try) if your pain doesn't let up soon

good luck
leslie
