Question
Hello Dr. Schell!

I am 50 years old and in good health.  I have not started menopause yet and a recent bone density scan shows no problems there.  Since my early 30's, I've had a curved upper back (like that of an elderly person). I've been told I lost height.  Since I've never been injured, is it possible that chiropractic treatment could straighten my back?

Thanks in advance,
Linda

Answer
I believe that x-rays and a physical exam would be necessary to accurately answer your question.

I'm intrigued that you've had this for about 20 years, and you're just now asking about it. Did it suddenly occur, or has it been a gradual change? Any pain in the area....

I would like to say give chiropractic a try...not just for this, but for your overall health. Especially since you'll be going through "the change" in the next few years...chiropractic helps balance the whole body, and can potentially ease the craziness of all those hormone issues that occur with menopause. Also, if you find a chiropractor that does nutrition, he/she may be able to help you naturally through that process as well.

And of course, all the added benefits of being healthier and feeling better from chiropractic care should be encouragements to go...back problems or not!
