is chiropractic care appropriate?

Question
I am trying to figure out the best course of action with the least amount of wasted money.  I had my first child 6 months ago, and after 36 hours of intense labor.  Since then, I have been having very sharp, intense pains in my lower back at various times.  It is not consistent pain but does seem to be getting worse (it happens most every day now).  I do not want continuous chiropractic care, even though I understand the theory.  I want my back to be back to normal.  What is your advice?  Is this something a chiropractor should be able to diagnos and fix?

Answer
when you say "fix", if you mean guarantee a permanent resolution with no recurrence, you are asking for something extremely unlikely to happen. life involves stresses, often unforseeable, which can cause the misalignment which produces the nerve interference which produces the symptoms to return. a brief period of care may achieve the symptom relief you seek, but to minimize future problems, checking and re-correction must be made as needed.
