Question
i noticed my lower back has been hurting me now for three weeks today has been the worst. i noticed that my left foot was hurting  and now it's my left foot, leg and left side of my lower back are hurting it more aggravated when i stay still or sit for long periods of time and when i exercise it seems to do better, but i can feel my back ache at times when i do my workout. I"ve been working out for the last three months two times a day in am and pm. trying to lose my belly. i noticed after a month of working out like this my left foot starting hurting, so i changed my shoes it has not really helped. i stopped running last week or so and its not really going away.  i'm wondering do u think i let my foot pain go on to long and my back is jutst secondary to my original pain which was my left foot. my left foot hurts on one side especially when i get up in the mornings and after my workouts. i don't know i made an appointment with my physician hoping he can refer me to a specialist. what do u think.

Answer
Hello Alma,

You may want to see a doctor of chiropractic. You may have a lumbar disc irritation or impingement of the sciatic nerve along its pathway down the leg.  Doctors of chiropractic specialize in the spine, joints of the body, musculature, and biomechanics.  The key to resolving your injury is finding the exact area of impingement and treating that area.

Thank you for the question,
Dr. Brendon O'Brien D.C.
