dependability of Chiropracting occupation?

Question
Hello,
I have been researching chiropractic and I am interested.  I can really see myself working as a chiropractor and I believe I would enjoy the work. The only thing that is holding me back from making my decision is the fact that chiropracting seems to be a independent business.  I investigated this a little and found that it is possible to go into partnership with other Chiropractors, especially when you are a work chiropractor, a chiropractor that works for a certain company and your patients are the employees of that company. I have never been much of a risk taker and, even after attending college for chiropracting, I believe owning my own business is too risky and most likely not very proffitable.  I do not fear being my own boss or running a business, I just fear the undependability of an independent business and I fear bankruptcy.  How do you feel about the dependability of a independent business and are their any ways around owning your own business as a chiropractor?
                                   Thank you,
                                     Tonya

Answer
I have worked for others as a chiropractor, and as self-employed, and i can tell you self employed is the way to go.  My first office, I opened in 1993, and closed in 1995.  I was 26 years old at the time.  Young enough that if you fail you can start over.  I am 38 now, and have had my own office for over 10 years.  I am very comfortable financially, with low stress.  DO NOT BE AFRAID!!!!!  Put your mind to it...it will work for the best.  The main consideration to have is which school to go to for the best chiropractic education.  Palmer, Sherman and Life are the top 3.  If you need any further information, just drop me a line at [email protected]
