Question
I was using the leg press machine with one leg at a time when the sled slipped and came down on my other leg which was straight.  It was 230lbs. It sweeled instantly, but no brusing, i couldn't walk for about 2 days, but then it was good, but i still can't squat or even flex my right quad, there still is no sweeling, just very painful when i bend my quad.  I try motrin, and ice.. Please help me

Answer
Leif,
This is difficult to assess over the internet.  At this point if this continues I would recommend going to see a sports chiropractor and having it examined and probably x-rayed to see what is actually going on there.  From the nature of the injury it sounds like it could be pretty bad, especially if what you were referring to was your knee.  Otherwise, you may have torn soft tissue (muscles, tendons, ligaments) in the right quad according to where the injury was.  I suggest that you have this looked at but in the meanwhile you can apply ice for 20 minutes on and 40 off and then apply heat for 20 minutes on and 40 minutes off and see which one feels better to you.  Then you can continue in this ratio with ice or heat until you either improve or go to a doctor.  In the meanwhile stay off your leg as much as possible to allow the body to heal.  It wouldn't hurt you to not only get it checked out by a chiro but to also have your spine checked for misalignment and have your spine re-aligned if necessary.

Yours in Best Health,
Dr Arnone
