Question
I was doing yoga a sitting down forward bend with legs out in front. I stretched my left arm to my left foot but slightly diagonal to my left big toe. I pulled a muscle. It hurt the next day and then I hardly felt it so I rested it for 5 days and went to power yoga. The next day it really hurt so I have rested it. I can feel it a little but now I dont know how long to leave it? Help Please. I love doing yoga and am now scared as to when to go back? I was thinking two weeks? It does not feel a serious injury.

Answer
Hi Laura,

The muscle strain you experienced will comes and goes if not properly treated.  The pain at the injured site will eventually dissipate but may leave remnant scar tissues behind that may affect your range of motion.

My advise in your case is to visit a chiropractic office for the muscle to be worked out and adjust the spine.

OR ALTERNATIVELY...

you can rest and use heat if not swollen or ice if there is swelling to the area.  Once you feel the pain has gone down, you can do the stretching SLOWLY and listen to your body.  If there is pain then stop and back off.

Again, I highly advise to have a professional such as a chiropractor for the appropriate treatment.
