The Brimhall Method and Is My DC Legit

Question
I have just started seeing a DC in my area with an expertise in the Brimhall Method of Chiropractic. I have read up on this and it seems to resonate and make sense to me.  I tend to be the type of person that goes with my instincts/gut when it comes to making health decisions and going to this particular doctor seems to make sense.  My specific ailments are varied but tend to be left sided in nature: upper back, lower back, sciatica and pain running down the left side of my body.  He has suggested some supplements to detox my body, accupuncture, footbaths for heavy metal elimination as examples of other things beside the chiropractic adjustments.  I have certainly felt positive changes in my body, pain has subsided, elimination seems better, more natural.  I have also heard that chiropractic treatment can help in conception and this is another reason I was drawn to the treatments. I want to be totally healthy and pain free before conceiving my next child.  I am wondering if I am being duped and if there is a way to check this specific practitioner.  As I said earlier my initial gut is telling me that he is sincere and knows what he is doing and the recommendations he is making are right for me, but for some reason today there is a nagging voice which is telling me to check in to this.  I also know that we have a natural tendency when we are healing to believe it isn't possible and to begin to question "changes" because our natural state has been different for so long that we become skeptical.  I want to be sure that's all this is and not that I have chosen a practitioner unwisely.
Thank you in advance for your time and expertise.
Please let me know if I need to give you more information so you can thoroughly answer my question.

Answer
Sofia,

The basis of Chiropractic is to locate and correct Nervous System Interference, mainly because the Nervous System controls and coordinates all of the cells in the body.  This is what allows the body to most efficiently heal itself.  So as long as this Doctor is able to test you on every visit and know whether or not you need to be adjusted, or which area(s) need to be adjusted or not, and then if he or she can retest to show that it has actually been adjusted, then this is what can help you to get well.
This should be the main focus, if he or she practices other methods like acupuncture and detox and footbaths, then those should be something to help the body along after the adjustment has been made.
In our clinic we do not do anything other than the location and correction of the Subluxation, because this is the cause of all dis-ease.  Now, we do also recommend what to eat and what not to eat as well as regular exercise and stretching but this comes in later and is all focused around the subluxation and the adjustment (when necessary).
Lastly, there are many different methods or techniques within the Chiropractic Profession and as long as the Doctor is on purpose and is a master of his or her chosen technique then that is a place of healing of many people can and will get well.  Of course if the patient's health is improving at that office and they understand what it is the doctor is setting out to accomplish, and he or she seems to be accomplishing those goals then that is the right place for that patient as well.
It sounds to me like you are in the right place for you at this time in your life.  If you ever have any questions down the line feel free to ask again.
