tear near the L4 and L5

Question
I had an MRI last week since I've been in a lot of pain for a few months.  Today they explained that it is a tear between the 4 and 5 lumbar vertibrae. They told me that surgery is not necessary and that I just need to not lift anything and it will eventually heal.  They referred me to a pain clinic to have steroid shots to help with the pain I'm experiencing.  I can't take many pain meds because I'm also having issues with my stomach.  Can you tell me if having an adjustment could make the tear worse and prolong the healing process?

Thanks for your help.

Answer
No it will not make things worse. Gentle Chiropractic care (activator, Thompson, arthrostim  techniques) would be fine. Then when your out of acute pain you can tolerate other techniques. Also, if pain meds irritate you, try cold laser therapy. Look on my website under "our services" then under "chiropractic" and you will see more info on cold laser therapy and how it will speed your recovery up 30-40%.
