Question
My mother in law in 80,overweight,middle eastern, she fell at the Middle of may. she was bending down in the grass to pick weeds.  she said she hit her nose, she was sore all over Now she is wearing a neck brace that she doesn't take off much.  Could she be hindering healing and movement by wearing this so much?  It is now the middle of July.

Answer
Lindz,
Your MIL has an unstable spine.  A Neck brace is a treatment attempt at creating stability in the Cervical Spine.  The brace should be a temporary fix, and she should have her Cervical Spine evaluated by an Upper Cervical Specific Doctor of Chiropractic.  This Doctor can realign her Upper Cervical Spine to create a situation of stability rather than instability.  She will then be able to do things without the brace confidently and safely.
