Arthritis in toe

Question
I am wondering how people have done when they have had their joint replaced in their big toe due to arthritis.  My other option is to have my toe and foot bones fused, with limited movement, but fairly predictable results.

Answer
Dear C,  I assume that you have actually been diagnosed with either Rheumatoid Arthritis or Osteoarthritis in your toe and that you don't have GOUT in that toe instead which can be treated without fusing.....

To answer your question, I do not know of anyone who has had arthritis in their toe so I can't be of much help...  I can say that you should be checked for GOUT because usually gout affects the toes and feet before RA or OA....

thank you,   karen
